Frequently asked questions

Is Divide legal advice?

No. Divide helps you organise and record who keeps what, calmly and fairly. It does not give legal advice and does not finalise a settlement. If your situation needs legal or financial sign-off, you can invite your lawyer, mediator, or accountant to the case, and the clear record Divide produces makes their job easier.

Does Divide decide who gets what?

No, you do. Each person privately records what they would like to keep. When only one of you wants something, there is nothing to decide, so the only conversation left is about the items you both want.

Are my choices private?

Yes. What you choose stays private to you while you work. You see which items are still being decided, not the other person's every move, so there is no point-scoring and no pressure.

What does it cost?

Divide is free to start, so you can set up your case, add your belongings, and make your choices at no cost. When you are ready to unlock your full division summary, there is a one-time fee for the case. There is no subscription.

What if the other person will not take part?

You can still build your inventory and see where things stand. Divide is designed to lower the temperature rather than force agreement, and if direct contact is difficult, you can limit or turn off messaging at any time. For matters that need it, a mediator or lawyer can be brought in.

I do not want contact with the other person. Is that possible?

Yes. You can turn off direct messaging for your case at any time, on your own, and there is a no-contact option that routes everything through a neutral mediator. Divide is built for hard situations, not just tidy ones.

Is Divide only for separating couples?

No. It also helps shared households and flatmates split a home fairly, and families settling an estate or downsizing. Anyone dividing belongings between more than one person can use it.

Can my lawyer, mediator, or accountant be involved?

Yes. You can invite a family lawyer to advise you, a neutral mediator to help with anything contested, or an accountant to verify the financial side. Each person sees only what their role needs.
