How it works

How Divide works

A calmer, clearer process from start to finish.

  1. Create your case

One person starts a case and invites the other to join. You each work from the same shared inventory.

  2. Build the inventory

Add the assets, liabilities and belongings to be considered. Include a name, category, estimated value, and a photo or supporting note where relevant. You review each item before it is saved.

  3. Make your choices privately

Each person works through the inventory independently, choosing to claim, pass, or decide later on each item. Your choices stay private until both of you have finished.

  4. See where your choices line up

Divide shows where your choices already line up, so those items drop off the list to discuss.

  5. Work through what is left

Anything you both claim, or have not yet decided, stays visible for further discussion. Work through it together, or use the information when seeking mediation or professional advice. Divide records your choices but does not decide the outcome or calculate either person's legal entitlement.

  6. Get your summary

Divide brings your inventory and decisions into one clear summary, showing where your choices line up and what still needs attention. Use it to prepare for a conversation, mediation appointment or professional advice.
